              Welcome to TROOP 106

On behalf of the adult leaders and Scouts, we welcome you, both boys and parents, to Boy Scout Troop 106.  Troop 106 has a strong tradition in the Northwest District of Northern Star Council (Formally known as Indianhead) and through our dedicated leaders and many supporters; we look forward to continuing with the fun, adventure, and the many benefits of Boy Scouting.

Going back to our beginnings, the Troop was originally chartered at Pike Lake Elementary School on December 21, 1965 as part of the Ah-Pwah-Gun District of Indianhead Council.  Seventeen boys joined the Troop, sponsored by the Pike Lake PTA , and were lead by Scoutmaster William Allen.  In just two years, the troop grew to 36 boys.  Along the way, we changed our chartered organization and meeting location to Christ The King Lutheran Church and have continued a strong level of participation; currently we have approximately 40 boys registered with Troop 106.

One of the goals of Boy Scouts is not only to teach boys skills that they can use today, but also to develop leadership skills that they can use for a lifetime.  We work hard to provide our scouts with opportunities to strengthen these skills, build self-confidence, and develop strong moral character.  With the challenges facing today's youth, we believe having a valuable organization such as the Boy Scouts can provide beneficial results for life.

Troop 106 is a very active troop which provides, based on the boy's suggestions, outing opportunities on a monthly basis.  We encourage and support the rank advancement and Merit Badge opportunities available to the boys.  We proudly display the names of the many boys from Troop 106 who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on a plaque at our sponsoring church.  We also participate in various community based volunteer activities and provide support to the Cub Scout organizations in the New Brighton area.  With the commitments made to the Troop by the boys and their parents, we can continue these beneficial programs - and have a lot of fun!

We welcome you to this troop and look forward to many years of adventure together!
